Indonesian army to guard territory bordering with Malaysia
Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) will soon post troops near border with Malaysia in Tanjung Datu, Sambas, West Kalimantan. The move is following Malaysia’s plan to build a beacon in Tanjung Datu.
Commander of TNI General Moeldoko said government had allocated funds in state budget 2015 for development of military power in Tanjung Datu. The budget, approved by Ministry of Defense, is up to 860 billion IDR.
The development includes extending Air Force runway up to 2,500 meters, increasing the number of Air Forces, and placing a battalion in Tanjung Datu. “Besides deploying troops, we will also build a battalion,” Moeldoko said on Monday, November 17.
